Understanding the Attributes: Immediate Job Opportunities

Getting on the Payroll

While finding a job immediately after graduation is not the only reason to get a good education, it is certainly a top consideration. Roughly two-thirds of all graduates feel their college helped them land a job after graduation; the remaining one-third do not. The schools performing best on the measure of Immediate Job Opportunities are the five military schools, four technical schools (Georgia Tech, MIT, Caltech, Harvey Mudd) and one large state university (Mississippi State). Liberal arts schools do not perform as well on this measure, although there are some exceptions. Schools that focus on this as a competency are recognized for it by their graduates.
