Overview
The University of Akron was founded in 1870 as a small religiously affiliated private college in the city of Akron, Ohio, just a short drive south of Cleveland. Today the school has grown to be a large state university, world renowned as a leader in the fields of polymer science and polymer engineering. The University of Akron hosts the Archives of the History of American Psychology, the world’s largest repository of its kind. Akron’s sports teams are called the Zips.
